Genius Hour Proposal
What is a Genius Hour Project?
Check out the video posted below to learn about what a genius hour project is all about!
The Beginnings of my Fitness Journey
After much debate, I decided to commit to the idea of training to run a 5km. I have heard so many amazing things about the health and mental benefits of running, so here's hoping I get to experience them myself. I have included my project proposal below, that outlines my goals and a rough plan of action.
Are you Ready?
Now, I'm sure you are all very excited to keep updated on my 5km journey! In hopes to grab your attention a little more, I've created a movie trailer that sums up my running experience. Enjoy!
Well, the time has come and I have finished the 5km journey! It was challenging and at times seemed impossible, but I can proudly say I ran the distance! I still want to get my time down, but all in all, I am happy I made it to my goal. Thanks for following my journey, I've posted a TEDTalk below that summarizes my project if anyone is interested in checking it out!
Very impressed by your movie trailer. Can you achieve your goal? I cant wait to find out!!!

ReplyDeleteI loved your movie trailer! I think that you did a great job showing what your Genius Hour topic was about, I feel your struggle about running. The editing was great and it was put together really well. I I'm glad that you enjoyed running and want to keep going.
ReplyDeleteHi Maddie! This was a great idea of a Genius hour project, this is even a topic I considered when thinking about my own! I see you at the gym all the time lol and I had no idea it was part of your Genius hour! Great job with sticking to it, I need to adopt this approach so that I can increase my endurance, I am soooo bad at running, but this is so motivational! Terrific work on the trailer!
ReplyDeleteYour movie trailer was fantastic! I loved the beginning scene where it says "one girl in her couch potato ways", that made me laugh out loud. The frames and transitions were really smooth and the whole video had a great tempo that mirrored the energy you need to feel to run 5km. The trailer definitely got me pumped to track your progress on your blog. I feel like most people can relate to feeling like a couch potato and it is actually a difficult thing to get motivated so all the power to you.
ReplyDeleteHi Maddie! I really enjoyed watching your Ted Talk. It was really interesting to hear about your progress. You did a really good job at showing viewers on how you achieved your goal. I think it's a really great achievement to hit the 5km in distance. I hope you keep up with running and are eventually able to reach your 5km without stopping! Great job, I really enjoyed following along on your journey.
ReplyDeleteI have watched your TED Talk. I like the way that you described what Genius Hour is. While watching this, I learned that there are online running apps and that the Nike app is recommended. Good for you for sticking with your running goal! It must have been tough not to give up. You should be really proud of yourself! It sounds like you challenged yourself for this project. Great to see!
ReplyDeleteHey Maddie,
ReplyDeleteI like how your genius how was a tough goal to achieve, and something that you really had to work towards. I found it very interesting how you used a ton of different variables during your genius hour topic, like different apps, indoors vs outdoors, etc... I think these were some great ideas to get a preference for what you like best. I think you answered a lot of potential questions people might have with your ted talk, great job!
